About Professor Emerita Tatjana Aparac-Jelušić, PhD

She was the Head of the University Department of Information Sciences at the University of Zadar, from 2007 till 2012 and Head of the Department of Information Sciences at the University of Osijek, from 2003 till 2007.

Since 2008 till retirement she was the Dean of the New PhD program Knowledge Society and the Information Transfer, University of Zadar.

Professor Aparac-Jelušić received her Ph.D. in Information Sciences, University of Zagreb (1991) and M.A. in Library Science, University of Zagreb (1982).

She was teaching as visiting professor abroad, in Austria and Sweden. In October 2019 she will spend three weeks in New Zealand as visiting professor at Wellington University.

Author of two books, nine chapters in books, over 150 research and professional papers (in Croatian and English), over 50 reviews, opinion papers; has edited 25 books.

She presented papers at many domestic and international conferences and was invited and key note speaker at several of them.

She was the member of the Editorial Board of Information Processing Management and Alexandria. She is currently the member of Advisory Board of the journal Alexandria (from 2011), and member of editorial boards of the Journal of Documentation (from 2006), JELISE (from 2014), Bibliotekarstvo, Serbia (from 2011), and Education for Information (from 2018).

Chair, American Society for Information Science and Technology /European Chapter, 2003-2009; Chair, Euclid – European Association of LIS university departments, 2008-2014; Chair, Croatian Council on Libraries, 2013-2019

Co-director of LIDA Conferences from 2000 till 2014; member of PC for CoLIS, ECDL, QQML2009, and reviewer for ASIST, ALA, ECDL and some other international conferences.

Research projects: Organization, preservation and usage of Croatian Written Heritage and Croatian Written Heritage: theoretical and methodological foundations; adviser for eleven library buildings projects in Croatia Currently she is an adviser on Library management and main coordinator of the Expert group for the new building of the University of Sarajevo Library.

She received Kukuljević’s Award (Croatian highest award in LIS field - 1998) and Thompson/ISI Outstanding Teacher of Information Science 2006 – Award given by ASIST. She also received special recognitions from the National and University Library in Zagreb (2013) and Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek. In 2019 she received from EUCLID the Bobcats of 2018 award for her efforts in fostering cooperation and internationalization of European Library and Information Science education.
