THE ARCHITECTURE OF LIBRARIES comprises curated thematic volumes, monographic country contributions, and thematic volumes that serve as works by guest curators. THE ARCHITECTURE OF LIBRARIES is an international book series on the latest library buildings worldwide.

Write an essay on a topic or project of your choice. The essay, including images, can be up to 20 pages long.

Create a volume based on your ideas by selecting contributions, a main theme, and a title.

START OF THE FIRST SEASON on 1.5.2026

The first season, consisting of 7 volumes, will start in May 2026.

KNOWLEDGE COUNTS

The starting launch of the series, comprising a total of seven individual volumes, will take place in 2026 under redline of KNOWLEDGE COUNTS. In addition to curated volumes, individual authors are invited to submit their projects. Diversity and knowledge, experience and visionary ideas are welcome. A distinctive feature of the book series is its high proportion of images.

CALL FOR PAPER

It is possible to publish an article as an architect, scientist, or library science expert. This article can deal with a built architecture and its contents and present its special features and experiences. However, scientific contributions containing innovations for use, problem solving, and other topics can also be presented. In every way, the topic should be an inspiration for decision-makers and projects of the future.

For Individual author contributions

It is possible to publish an article as architect, scientist, professional in library science

The contributions are grouped together under the main theme of Knowledge Counts according to thematic groups.

Concept: One to two pages explaining the idea and content, up to 3 examples of selected pictures with a brief introduction of the author.

For Guest Curator Opportunities

It is possible to curate one to a maximum of two thematically related volumes.

The authors of these volumes are selected and curated by the guest curator. The guest curator selects the final title of their volume.

Concept: One to two pages explaining the idea, content, and, if applicable, authors, with a brief introduction to the curator.

Timeline: June, 30th 2026

THE COVER DESIGN

The selection of images for each volume will only be decided during the design process. Each author can submit a suggestion, and each curator determines the motif for their curated volume themselves. The series of volumes will be numbered 1 to 7 on the spine and later up to 35 to form a complete set.

Publication is provided free of charge by the publishing house. A contract is concluded with the publishing house to secure all image and publication rights for both parties to the contract.

The rights to the Brand THE ARCHITECTURE OF LIBRARIES belong to the Editor, the MSAO Future Foundation.

Each author will receive a specimen copy unless otherwise agreed.

THE ARCHITECTURE OF LIBRARIES MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A FULL HANDBOOK TO AID DECISION MAKING ON THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ISSUES MOST CRITICAL TO THE WORLD’S INSTITUTIONS AND POLICY LEADERS TO BUILD KNOWLEDGE.
