Observations

At the end of our Library Summit, we can summarize the following observations:

  1. In the 21st century, we are moving towards a knowledge society. The transformation of craft, to industry, to technology and now to knowledge economy is unstoppable. In addition to the growing influence of data & artificial intelligence, human intelligence is becoming more important. It will continue to be the foundation of our social progress for development, renewal and exchange in the knowledge society of the 21st century.

  2. Libraries have enormous significance for the knowledge society in the 21st century. They stand for access and to securing of real information and the real generation of knowledge. All of this happens through the existence of libraries.

  3. It is important that the library turns away from its sole academic claim and now simply becomes a public space with unrestricted access for everyone. The library will be the new common room.

  4. Architecture is the Library's primary partner because it gives the tasks and challenges - the space it needs - to deliver ideas through innovative and creative solutions.

  5. This way in the 21st century, the library can develop according to the demands of the upcoming knowledge society.
